Branding: Big brother of Advertising Family

branding

Advertising is a science!! With this statement done, you might conclude either the writer might have lost her mind or she simply does not take the field seriously. But that’s what audiences (and in this case the readers) have a tendency to instantly jump to final decisions. But if you would take a few moments and try to reason out this fact you might quite understand as to why I would say that.

Just like any chemical composition, advertising is also a combination of different elements and compounds. Also, if we really dig to deep roots we keep hearing many scientists saying that science in fact is an art. According to all the theorists and applied scientists when an invention is made, it is a work of art and imagination. Similarly isn’t any ad the foundation of same process? A process is another world. And in that world, exists different facets and where I metaphor them as an entire family. When you consider a single piece as ad, you might not understand this metaphor. But consider an ad as a whole series of campaign with use of different media and different communication. Of this entire family, Branding is just a part; but this part has its major hold onto everything. Branding isn’t just a story to tell by ways of logo, color, designing and use of different fonts. It is a system, a discipline, a personality with an abstract but calculative behavior. As and when this behavior becomes prevalent, the journey of this family member starts promoting and bringing sensible results to the family. No-one has actually constructed a phenomenon how a brand brings these results. But when you look carefully you will realize its potential. You probably might be wondering how often any brand has developed in the said sequence. Considering the heritage brands, they have had their behavior and have evolved in their journey; with their family extending and innovating.

The backgrounds are phenomenal with a careful study and scrutinized planning of branding. Not only does branding help the advertising process, it has described a socio-economic back drop in many ways. The in-film branding, the referential series metaphors, the spoofs of the brands all are in fact other faces of the same person. We might just wish to say as and when the person is prompted from a general society to the celebrity world, how it evolves and how it develops with help of media is a tricky business. Mostly it is said not all can handle stardom but when a brand is being born it is actually made for stardom. So the advertising, public relation, fame-game everything is a part of its life. How the creators and makers maintain it and effect with respect makes branding the big brother for advertising. How the big brother makes his own identity and helps the family to root in the fame society makes every brand a personality with eminence and endeavor.

5 Branding and Logo Mistakes to Avoid

beiersdorf-nivea-good-bye-cellulite-outdoor-307963-adeevee

The logo is arguably one of the most important aspects of your overall branding strategy. Your company’s logo must communicate the personality of your brand and instantly convey the company’s values and emotions instantly and at a glance. Your customers should never have to work to figure out your logo. Instead, it should tell a story about your brand in a way that is clear, quick, and concise. However good graphic and logo design is not an exact science, but rather equal parts science, art, and psychology. Here are five branding and logo mistakes to avoid.

Mistake 1: Low Resolution Graphics

With mobile access to online web sites and platforms taking the lead in terms of the primary way in which people access the Internet. And, since the mobile generation is here to stay, it is now critical that your logos can scale to fit any viewing device. Images need to retain maintain quality with no pixelation issues. Bitmaps have fallen out of standard practice, and most designers have now understandably turned to vector graphics which do not lose quality as they scale.

Mistake 2: Following Trends and Fads Blindly

In advertising, marketing, and design there is always some new hot trend hitting the market. For example, lately there has been an increasing trend towards a flat, minimalistic site design. While more and more sites are turning to this form of design, it is natural to ask yourself if this trend will last. Rather than following trends, you should approach your logo like a long term investment, one that will have to last you for years, not just this season.

Mistake 3: Poor Use of Typefaces

Choosing a font is one of the hardest decisions to remove from your own emotional bias. The wrong font can look silly at best, and fatal at worst. For instance, a lawyer would not use Comic Sans in their logo because it would appear too fun and light-hearted, and would not appeal to clients who are looking for someone who will take them seriously and can be trusted.

Mistake 4: Copying Other Brands

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but in logo design it is the surest path to a stunted logo that will likely not receive much awareness and recognition. For one thing, it communicates that your business is unoriginal, and that you have little capability for creativity. It also conveys laziness on behalf of the business, and suggests that the company is riding on the back of another company’s success. Not a good impression to give your customers.

Mistake 5: Over Complicating Your Logo

In graphic design, it can be tempting to create logos that really show off your skills in design and graphic manipulation. However, if you get too complex in your design, it can often fall flat. Your logo needs to be able to be utilized in all scenarios and across a variety of platforms like web and print. You also need to consider that when your logo gets scaled down for mobile media or small graphic advertisements an over complicated logo will not look as good.

How to Construe A Product Video Successfully

tech5

To begin with, product video is nothing but brief, concise, compact video designed to advertise a commercial product, service, set of directives and event. These videos are habitually integrated on an organization’s affiliated website in order to give the viewer or budding customer some piece of information concerning the product along with the background of that company. These videos are often utilized as major component of social video campaign and no doubt, it is one of the effective tools as far as marketing and product promotion is concerned.

Differing from corporate video

Product videos are not corporate videos. They have marked disparity although few think they are synonymous and confuse these terms while addressing these videos. To elucidate, corporate videos not always aim at promoting products, services nor did they mean for general people as well. In most cases they are used for training purpose or rendering set of instruction to in-house employees whereas product videos are meant for target traffic, dwelling outside the organizational periphery.

In order to promote your startup availing product video is highly professional a decision and making it involves few fundamental ways and techniques. No doubt you can hand over the job to some proficient video production company but with right knowledge you will also be able to supervise if your task going on the right direction or not. Although, making video is not tough, but daunting is facing the crowd out there. In order to captivate their attention the video has to have that hooking X factor. Below few ways are discussed for making effective product video with these tips you can carry though your flawless surveillance or start your own DIY project.

Below are few tips and techniques, which for sure can help you to save dollars, effort and time.

Scripting

While making script, you need not to go for undue elaboration. Elaboration may make the video cumbersome and boring. It may diverge from the actual point of concord and end in something disastrous. Your video has an aim and that that is to introduce the product to the people out there with all its quintessential features and benefits. You must make sure that your company logo and the web address is shown properly right after the completion of that video. You may add some comic element to make the video tempting but be, rest assured not to overdo it. You must add a section where you have choices laid bare before the clients, asking if they buy or subscribe. You may compose the script on your own or hire a professional to do the job on your behalf but you must make sure that the professional you hire should guesstimate your need.

Recording voice

Recording or integrating sound is a big step but you do not have to be stringent while you incorporate voice but you have to be prudent and cautious. You do not have to dwell in a quiet place rather normal natural word exchange will emerge friendlier. You may edit the voice and word, correct intonation and pronunciation. You can have normal regular voices to prompt your product detail or  have a celebrity or professional artist to go for your voiceover.

Having Keynote presentation

Using PowerPoint, you may opt for new slides for each feature or sentence on the script. Your slides will emphatically represent your intention highlighting the basic features of the product. While making a product video you may find few significant facts about your product which need some highlighting or focus. You can emphasize the fact with right graphical representation. Seeing is believing so the  more assertive you turn out to be the more potential your video will appear. You can make use of stock photos or generate something of your own. But stay away from being clichés but be niche specific in your approach, try something innovative, crispy something which leaves an impression so that whenever people visit market  to buy a product belonging to that genre they think trying your product over others.

Recording with ScreenFlow or Camtasia

When almost everything is prepared, you should integrate all your ingredients into one effective whole and to accomplish that end you must read the script audibly concurrently playing the presentation while using Camtasia or ScreenFlow. These are the most sought after desktop screen recording gadgets which will help you amply to record short and concise videos to big projects with credibility adding right distinction. Nevertheless, if you are running low in budget then you can try the same with other alternatives such as Jing or Screencast-O-Matic.

Editing and merging video and audio

Using the app IMovie you can merge the components successfully. Your voiceover audio note and video ca be synchronized into an integrated whole. You can do the same using Camtasia or ScreenFlow as well.

Adding sound or music

Adding sound is not mandatory but little music will give your video a professional stance making it a pleasurable journey for the viewers. While browsing through Pond5, Royalty Free Music, Audio Jungle you will hit upon broad spectrum of royalty free soundtracks. No matter how enticing the music emerges out to be it must not drown your voiceover otherwise, the whole video will run meaningless giving off nothing comprehensible.  So incorporate music, adjust the audio level but make sure your voice is heard clearly without slightest hitch and clog.

Seeing on your own or having someone reliable

Before posting the video on your website or even on YouTube you must watch it. But it will be better if you have someone watching it on your personal interest. Often errors go missed. Finding out own flaws is difficult so it will be better to have it watched thousand and one times by someone else. Try to focus on minor incongruities rather than applauding it or having general eyes, you must bear in mind that the flow of the video has to have smooth finish.

Summary

Almost all industries are trying their hand in making product video. It does not involve much but the impact it supplicates is something worth trying for. So no matter how big or small scale your industry is, your product video will definitely leave a powerful impact, making casual visitors into prospective customers.

Product branding vs corporate branding

f6559dd30e5f7ce2e5fd2d21c2ad123b

Branding is an idea or image a product, service or company creates with a combination of factors like name, logo, slogan or design. However, in reality it is much more than that. It is the amalgamation of a number of elements a company, product or service projects to build a positive relationship with its consumers. A brand is who you essentially are and how you want to be perceived by the people. It gives the customer a glimpse of what to expect from you. In short, branding is the promise given by the business to the customer.

Types of branding

There are essentially two types of branding – product branding and corporate branding. Both these types of branding have their own advantages and disadvantages. They are both important for companies. Depending upon what and how you decide to carry on your branding will determine whether you should go for corporate branding or product branding. While corporate branding emphasizes on building a name for your company as a whole, product branding narrows down its attempts in focusing solely on your product without involving your company’s name. Both types of branding requires all the effort of marketing you can put to make your product or company a household name.

Product branding

Product branding uses the qualities of products to market themselves. They leverage the quality of the product to create a name for themselves. It is usually used by companies that branch out. The advantage of product branding is that the value of the brand is not affected by company’s image. People do not associate the product with any company. The marketing strategy adopted is aimed at selling the product using the product itself. The product itself is used to evoke emotion in its customers.

Corporate branding

Corporate branding, on the other hand, applies to using the name of the company for leveraging brand equity. People usually buy the product because of the trust they have in the company. The disadvantage is that fall in the brand name for any reason will lead to all products under its corporate branding take the beating. However, people usually accept the new products launched easily as it comes under the name of the company branding.

The focus

While product branding focuses on the product or service and its customers, corporate branding emphasises on the company as a whole, its philosophies and ethics. Corporate branding puts everyone related to the organization in the spotlight. Hence, people relate every employee to the idea created by the brand. This also means at every step, it becomes the responsibility of the company to live up to the image created by their brand.

Responsibility

Product branding is handled only by marketing department of a company. However, corporate branding needs support from the whole organization. Every single employee is associated with the brand and is responsible for the success of the brand. The work culture, vision and quality of the products combine to play a role in building corporate brand while only the product and its customers are involved in product branding.

Change in perspectives

Product branding can undergo re-branding without losing out on any stakes. Corporate branding, on the other hand, carries the weight of past as well as future as they are essentially the face of an organization.

Simple Rules to B2B Web Marketing

Flat vector illustration of web analytics information and development website statistic

B2B online marketing experts cannot overstate how your marketing collateral, especially your website can help support your sales. The main difference between an online B2B and B2C initiative is the time lag between discovery and purchase. While B2B may have a slower process down the sales funnel, this offers unique opportunities for businesses to build relationships.

Online marketing for a B2B has its own set of challenges. Here are a few rules on how to go about it with ease –

• Focus on Assisting the Client:

Everything on your website from your copy to the design as well as the call to action should be pointing towards educating and assisting the potential client. A B2B client is most likely reviewing the firm and also comparing it with others on the web. If your website isn’t able to provide easy answers to the questions they have, chances are they will abandon your offering in the decision making phase. Your website should focus on the following –

– Easy navigation and positive user experience
– Comprehensive contact information
– Overall web design and function

• Building Credibility:

After you have finished working on a user-focused and functional website, it is time to aid your B2B sales by working on building credibility. Chances are that your prospect is going to re-visit your portal and social pages to gather information. It is thus important that you continue to update your blogs, social pages and website with relevant information that keeps engaging its prospects. In addition to this, doing so helps building trust without having to constantly rely on phone calls between the sales teams and the buyers. A good content marketing tactic that is educational, valuable and catering to different decision makers helps drive success.

• Do not Over Stress the Sale:

As contradictory as this may seem to the idea of building pages and profiles that boost sales, considering that the sales cycle in such scenarios tends to be longer, closing in too early on a potential client tends to intimidate the prospects. While you are offering educational and credible content, take into consideration how your prospect will like to get hold of the information. People tend to get put off when businesses try to hard sell. Prospects prefer to educate themselves and then contact you when they are closer to making a decision. Holding back information behind long surveys and “How Did you Find Us?” type questions tends to drive away prospects.

Finally, it is ideal to hire a performance based SEO agency that is able to help you meet your online goals in the correct manner. Considering that the B2B sales process is more complex and lengthy it is important that your marketing tactics aren’t very short sighted. The objective of your web marketing strategy should be to ensure long-term nurturing and growth. The idea is to make sure that the prospects return to your on a constant basis. By making the above mentioned changes you will be able to ensure repeat visits and make the decision making process a lot simpler.

How to Outsmart your PPC Competition

photodune-9593448-web-and-seo-analytics-concept-xs

Depending on the industry you belong to, PPC can prove to be an extremely competitive strategy to conquer. Your Pay Per Click Management team will put in long hours of hard work into your campaign and your competitors will still manage to have a leg up against you. These tips can help you outsmart your competition in the PPC world –

• Focusing on your Quality Scores

Your Quality Score is a function of your ad, the landing page and the keyword that you are bidding on. Controlling these three items allows you to ensure relevancy levels for your prospective consumers. It is important to strive for quality scores for all keywords except the competitor brand names. This is because the higher your score the lower will be your cost per click.

How to achieve this?

You need to improve your score and get a higher placement. You also want to lower minimum bids for keywords and improve click through rates. The following steps can help you achieve this –

1. Make sure your campaigns are structured using smaller, tighter and more relevant ad groups.
2. Make sure your ad copy and keywords are optimized
3. Make sure your landing pages also contain content with keywords that you are targeting.

• Reviewing Auction Insight Reports

This is essentially an AdWords tool that allows Pay Per Click Advertising Strategists to see other competitors that are vying for the same keywords as oneself. This review can help provide critical insights into how your PPC campaign is performing against other competitors.
While performing this review, make sure that you follow these 5 key metrics –

1. Impression share
2. Average position
3. Overlap rate – this stands for how often you and your competition had simultaneous impressions
4. Position above rate – this represents how often your competitor’s ad appeared above yours
5. Top of page rate – this represents how often your ad was above the organic listings, i.e. in the top 3 and not in the right side panel.

These reports are extremely valuable to advertisers. One can leverage these to be prepared for upcoming competition and to gauge how your new strategy is performing against advertisers with an existing campaign.

• Leveraging Ad Extensions

These are a critical component of PPC campaigns as they allow you to exhibit additional information or to “extend” your text ads. These tools helps in improving your visibility and appear only on those ads which come above the search results as against on the right hand side bar.

Commonly used Ad Extensions worth considering include –

1. Site link extensions
2. Call extensions
3. Location extensions
4. Callout extensions

Finally, it is extremely important that you stay updated with PPC news, strategies and trends. The scenario of online advertising is constantly changing. Assess what you are doing to stay in loop to these evolving landscapes and how you intend to keep up with these changes. Hiring specialist PPC managers is an excellent way to leverage their knowledge and experience to make sure you are constantly one step ahead of your competition.

Network Marketing Advice: 5 Important Pieces Of Network Marketing

caption5

Network Marketing is one of the largest growing industries around at the moment.  Despite certain negative connotations labeled to it, more and more people each day are signing up to do direct sales with the dreams of working from home and obtaining some kind of Financial Freedom.  Unfortunately there are a lot of people that realize this and there are some things when choosing a company to go with that are vital to avoid getting yourself in a bad situation.

1. Choose a Publicly Traded Company

A common misconception about a lot of Network Marketing companies are that they are a big scam and are out to get you.  Unfortunately there are some people out there who do this dishonestly and you need to watch out for those.  A sure fire way to do that is to only go with a company that is Publicly Traded.  Now do not get me wrong, there are very reputable companies out there that are Privately owned.  However for me, because of the legal transparency I would only feel comfortable doing business with a publicly traded company.

2. Understand that this merchandise is NOT going to sell itself

People think MLM companies are get rich quick schemes.  While people join Direct sales for many reasons, the people who are successful in this industry put time in.  The merchandise does not sell itself and you do not grow your downline simply by putting a bumper sticker on your car.  The real success stories had a game plan and they saw that plan through.  Network Marketing is a legit business, treat it like one and you will do well.

3. Is there anything backing the products claims

Everyone out there claims their product works but how do we really know.  There are plenty of studies done and videos claiming things work but you need to understand where the studies are coming from.  For example I work with a company who has products proven on pubmed.gov.  This is the top government cite showing peer-reviewed studies done by major Universities.  This is the end all website for health related products.  If you don’t have legit backing beware.

4. Is the Buy in Price Reasonable

If the Company you are looking at has a buy in price in the thousands, stay away.  Good companies should only make you pay for the things you are getting in your start up kit.  If they are asking for more be weary.

5. Am I right for Network Marketing

I understand Network Marketing is not for everyone.  But if you are a self motivated person who is tired of going to their 9-5 everyday, or simply tired of trading time for money, then you need to seriously consider it.  Top business men and women explain how Direct Sales is the industry of the future.  As the job market continues to stay low, while only really producing new service jobs that many cannot live on, Direct Sales offers a lifestyle many would only dream of.  If you do it correctly it will give you the time to pursue your dreams and the money to do it.  If you are interested in learning more please check out this website here.
